Information for Judges
Every year, science fairs offer thousands of students in BC the opportunity to develop original scientific research, innovative projects and 21st Century learning skills. Students who develop science fair projects enjoy project-based learning that extends science beyond the classroom and encourages curiosity about topics of personal interest. Judging is the highlight of the science fair experience for many students. Students love the opportunity to exchange ideas with specialists in their field. In return, most judges find talking with science fair participants to be a very positive experience. The energy, enthusiasm and inspiration students bring to their projects is contagious.
EKRSF owes its success to its volunteers. We are especially grateful to our amazing judges for lending their time and giving valuable feedback to our students, who consistently cite their conversations with judges as the highlight of their EKRSF experience. Judging is a great way to meet other STEM enthusiasts or do something fun with a friend or colleague! We look forward to catching up with returning judges and welcoming new ones. No prior judging experience is necessary, but prospective judges should:
hold an undergraduate degree in STEM and/or be currently employed in a STEM field
be comfortable interacting with Grade 5 – 12 students
The fair takes place from 9am-3pm. Judges would need to be at the College from 830am-1230pm on the day.
