Dear EKRSF Community,

After careful consideration, we announce the dissolution of the East Kootenay Regional Science Fair (EKRSF), effective immediately. After many years of celebrating student innovation, curiosity, and scientific exploration, we have decided to conclude the fair due to ongoing challenges with participation and volunteer numbers.

We are proud of the legacy EKRSF leaves behind and the impact it has had on students’ lives. Over the years, hundreds of students from across the East Kootenay region have shared their ideas, discoveries, and passion for science through this platform. Their creativity and dedication have inspired educators, judges, and community members. Several of our students have represented the East Kootenay at Canada-Wide Science Fair and the International Science and Engineering Fair and have brought home medals from these fairs.

We extend our thanks to all the students, teachers, volunteer judges, sponsors, and supporters who have contributed to EKRSF’s success. Your commitment has made a lasting impact on science education in our region.

While EKRSF is ending, we remain hopeful that new opportunities will emerge to support youth in STEM. We encourage schools and educators to continue to foster scientific inquiry and to explore other avenues for student engagement in science and innovation.
